My name is Bart. It Is Typed is my personal blog. I work for the New York Times as a Design Technologist, meaning I handle both design and development tasks.
I was originally born in Poland, came to America when I was 6, and now live in Brooklyn with my boyfriend (of 5 years!) and our dog Miki (3-year-old miniature American Eskimo).
I’ve been blogging since 2001, but at a different site I’m not going to name here until I’ve had a chance to hide some embarrassing posts.
My old site helped me come to turns with being gay. It’s where I wrote down my first thoughts about coming out, my first relationship, and I can’t imagine where I’d be today without the support I received from sharing my thoughts.
Why “It Is Typed”?
- This blog is typed.
- I’m obsessed with e-books and own an Amazon Kindle. E-books are typed.
- I have an interest in design (typography)
- I’m a web developer (in programming there’s such a thing as “data typing”)
- I’ve been noticing the phrase “it is written…” in a few places lately (”it is written in the stars” and from Slumdog: “destiny, it is written”) and it’s been catching my attention, but written to me implies writing by hand. I’m interested in digital things, things that are typed.
